BITUMINA II —
TANKER ENGINEERING
FOR REAL-WORLD OPERATION

Bitumina II is a V-Shipping tanker project developed around practical vessel engineering, integrated cargo systems and dependable inland operation. The project brings technical layout, onboard systems and shipbuilding logic together within a vessel platform designed for efficient day-to-day use and long-term reliability.

BITUMINA 2 • THERMAL SYSTEMS • CARGO HANDLING

ENGINEERED FOR
HIGH-TEMPERATURE CARGO,
CONTROLLED TRANSFER
AND THERMAL RELIABILITY

Bitumina 1 was developed around one of the most demanding requirements in tanker operation: the controlled transport and transfer of cargo at very high temperatures. The vessel’s cargo system was engineered for operating temperatures up to 220°C, requiring careful integration of pumps, valves, pipework, thermal protection and onboard technical systems.

Four frequency-controlled cargo pumps provide a combined transfer capacity of up to 600 m³/h. Each pump is rated at up to 150 m³/h at 6 bar, allowing the cargo installation to combine high throughput with controlled operation across different loading and discharge conditions.

Thermally protected valves, VRU components and associated systems were selected for the extreme operating environment, with critical components rated up to 250°C. The result is a tanker platform in which cargo handling, thermal management and shipbuilding execution were developed as one integrated technical solution.

V-SHIPPING’S ROLE IN THE BITUMINA 2 PROJECT

V-Shipping’s role in the Bitumina II project centred on connecting vessel engineering, cargo-system integration and practical shipbuilding logic within one coordinated project approach. The vessel was developed around the requirements of dependable inland tanker operation and efficient day-to-day use.

Technical layout, deck systems and onboard equipment had to work together as one integrated vessel platform. Engineering decisions were therefore evaluated not only in isolation, but in relation to accessibility, operation, maintenance and the practical requirements of construction and delivery.

Bitumina II reflects V-Shipping’s design-to-build philosophy: developing technical solutions around real operational requirements while keeping engineering, system integration and vessel execution aligned throughout the project.
