ENGINEERED FOR
COMPACT OPERATION,
HEATED CARGO
AND PRACTICAL ACCESS

Pollux was developed as an 86-metre Type C inland tanker in which vessel dimensions, heated cargo requirements and onboard technical systems had to be integrated within a compact operating platform. The project required a practical balance between cargo capacity, machinery, deck equipment and accessible working space.

The cargo installation was developed around reliable heated cargo operation up to 90°C, with piping, valves and deck systems arranged to support safe and practical day-to-day use. Within the vessel’s 9.60-metre beam, careful system layout was essential to keep technical equipment accessible while maintaining a clear and efficient deck arrangement.

Built at Dolderman and delivered in 2019, Pollux demonstrates V-Shipping’s approach to compact tanker engineering: technical systems are developed in relation to the vessel’s real operating profile, construction constraints, maintenance requirements and long-term reliability.

V-SHIPPING’S ROLE IN THE POLLUX PROJECT

V-Shipping was responsible for the development of Pollux as designer and builder, connecting vessel concept, tanker engineering, cargo-system integration, shipbuilding execution and final delivery within one coordinated project approach.

The project required the 86-metre vessel platform, 9.60-metre beam, heated cargo requirements and diesel propulsion to be developed as one compact technical solution. Deck piping, valves, machinery and working space had to be carefully arranged to support practical operation, accessibility and maintenance.

Pollux demonstrates V-Shipping’s design-to-build philosophy on a compact tanker platform: technical decisions were developed around real operating requirements, efficient use of space, buildability and long-term reliability of the completed vessel.
