Poros was developed as a 135-metre Type C inland tanker for reliable oil transport and heated cargo operation. The project combines practical vessel engineering, Stage V diesel propulsion and a cargo system developed around the technical and operational demands of tanker service.
The deck arrangement brings together piping, pumps, valves and cargo-handling equipment within one coordinated vessel design. With cargo temperatures up to 90°C, system layout, accessibility and integration had to support safe, practical and dependable day-to-day operation.
Built at Den Breejen and delivered in 2024, Poros reflects V-Shipping’s design-to-build approach: vessel dimensions, cargo systems, propulsion and construction decisions are developed as one project, with technical choices assessed in relation to how the vessel will actually be built, operated and maintained.

V-SHIPPING’S ROLE IN THE LUGANO PROJECT
V-Shipping was responsible for the development of Poros as designer and builder, connecting vessel concept, engineering, cargo system integration, shipbuilding execution and final delivery within one coordinated project approach.
The project required the vessel’s 135-metre dimensions, heated cargo requirements, Stage V propulsion, deck piping and construction strategy to work together as one practical tanker solution. Particular attention was given to how cargo-handling systems could be integrated clearly and efficiently into the overall vessel design.
Poros demonstrates V-Shipping’s design-to-build philosophy: technical decisions are developed not only around drawings and specifications, but around construction, cargo handling, maintenance, operational reliability and the long-term use of the completed vessel.
